a productive week...

If I do say so myself....
This week, the weather was pretty decent, so I spent a lot of time on the back yard weeding and bark project. I'm almost all the way around.....and it seems like I'll just have to start again. The weeds just wont stop growing!

We also scored this great tree. It was at my sister's house, directly over her sewer line. OOPS!
Had to go before it became a problem.
I never met a free plant I didn't like so.......
It was a feat of engineering to get it here, but it seems pretty happy so far. It's the red lace leaf maple back there.

The clearance bin was pretty good this week too.....from the blue store, I scored two pasque flowers, one purple and one red. From the orange store, a nice armeria. Fred meyer had a great iris (they'll be more next week), and the master gardener plant sale had a couple of beautiful irises, one Siberian, and one german, called "girly girl". I also scored 3 yarrow, a huchera "obsidian", a white bellflower, and a mystery day lily from the local nursery, and the lily place is starting their clearance sale, so I came home with 3 HUGE  white lilies (casa blanca), a cool pink daylily, and two half price peonies that were about $4 each. They'll be starting the down and dirty clearance in two weeks, and I'll be the first in line! I also scored the lion's mane mushroom plugs I've been waiting for,  so that'll be next week's project.

what a difference a year makes!

Last year at this time, the landscapers had just barely left and the labyrinth wasn't even close to being done.....this is what things looked like.....

We've done a bit of work since then.....today, this is what it looks like.

kinda different....huh???? Gotta love it.

This week, I'll be getting another load of wood chips and continuing on the reclaiming of the back yard. It's getting there....slowly ......

A couple of clematis.... both from the clearance rack, of course!
