Make it stop!!!

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I don't do hot well.....it makes me crabby and, well, hot. It's been very hot here lately, over 90, and it's not supposed to stop for a while. I'm afraid my water bill will need to be financed. I can't let all my babies bake, ya know.

In happy news, the iris guy is back! I can now continue my obsession.....this week, he had some SDB's, and of course, they had to come home with me.....

My daylily obsession continues too, with two new additions from the local garden store. I hate to buy stuff from them, because they're overpriced and stuck up, but, how could I resist these two??

That's tiger blood on the left and ruby spider on the right. They were even more spectacular in person. The bloom on ruby spider was about 8". Too bad they only last for one day.

Just to prove my obsession is justified, here's a few more from the garden. Most of these came from the clearance rack at the garden center for $3.

and just to prove there's more to life than daylilies......

Off to water now!

going gangbusters

So, this is the third year for this garden, and it seems to be doing marvelously.....
there are some lilies, some irises, daylilies, hardy geraniums and bunnies......lots and lots of bunnies.....

This week brought a score from the clearance rack.....some Hula strawberries. They're supposed to taste like pineapple.....we'll see. There were also a couple of coreopsis and a new peony. I'm also eying a couple of peonies over at the blue box. They'll be in the rack soon.....come here my pretties.....

Today, we're re staining the deck and getting the last step ready for summer.

More garden plans to come.

let the clearance rack games begin!

This week the clearance rack heated up! I scored 4 new peonies for $2.99 each at freddies, 3 nice gallon armeria at lowes, and a bunch of 4" perennials at the local garden store They're all resting in their new homes, and I'm on the hunt for more.

Speaking of peonies.......they're coming on strong right now. Love the peonies!

Not to be outdone, the irises are putting on a pretty good show too.....

Must buy MORE irises and peonies.......

This week is a bit of vacation, so we're working on some art work and the like. Hopefully the moon gate will make progress. We'll see......there's a list......

I know, I've been MIA

busy, busy.....

The irises and peonies are going strong and the garden is filling in beautifully.

The clearance rack at the farmer's market has yielded some peonies and a daylily.
I also decided to try growing horseradish.

There would be pics, but blogger hates me today.
This may be the end of this blog. It just gets harder to post every time and facebook is much friendlier.

let the plant sale season begin

I know, I've been missing, but I've been busy......painting and cleaning my parents new house. That's done now, and I'm on to bigger and better things.....(like catching up with the weeding!)

I celebrated finishing by going to the rhody species sale yesterday. That's always been a fun one with lots of different things. I managed to acquire 5 new daylilies, a black penstomen, a cute perennial geranium, and a little arum called "dragon tail".
They're all in the ground and ready to grow.

The irises have been going crazy here. SDB's first.....

The others are getting ready....any minute.

The tree peonies are in their full glory too....

the flowers are huge!
There's tons of other stuff blooming too....just no time for pics.

Next week, the arboretum sale, and maybe some TB irises in bloom.....we'll see!

gardening away.....

I love this time of year......there are so many choices out there for plants and the garden seems to look different every day. I'll definitely be buying some more fancy daffodils this year....they're just so happy!!

the species tulips are pretty cool too....
and I think I need some more primrose arcuata as well...
Oh, heck, I just want them ALL!!

......weeding and anxiously waiting for plant sale season which kicks off April 11!

plugging away

This week was kind of quiet around here.....doggie sitting and making sure she's healing well from her surgery.

I did get out a bit, though.......planted a nice elderberry, some more Costco peonies, a couple of red trilliums, and a white peony tree from lowes.

We also bought another load of dirt to top off the garden boxes and  some stepping stones to finish this garden area.....

I think it turned out pretty nice and added another dimension to the yard....next up, getting that fountain going again.  The area around the fountain is going to be my black garden. There's already some black irises there, and I'll be adding more later in the season.

We need about 6 more rocks. Three to break up for around the barrel pond, and three to go out to the bird feeder.

Speaking of the bird feeder, the last couple of days, there's been a really cute hairy woodpecker hanging around the suet. No pics yet, but I'll catch him soon. He'll definitely be back.

This week, more weed pulling, some pond plants, and who knows what else.....the clearance racks are starting to show some action......it's a treasure hunt!!
